Your personal Uno transformer can now be pre-ordered

ORIGINALLY REPORTED HERE

Uno 3 imageWhat began as a high school science fair project has quickly turned into an international sensation. The innovative self-balancing two-wheeled Uno 3scooter can now be pre-ordered. Dubbed as the “world’s first real transformer,” the Uno 3 combines the reduced parking footprint of a Segway with all the benefits of a conventional motorcycle.

The Uno 3 can balance solely on its rear wheels in “Uno mode,” enabling unmatched nimbleness with an extremely tight turning radius. This alone will make it ideal for urban settings. When higher speeds are needed, the middle wheel can drop down in front and the outer wheels shift backwards — transforming the Uno 3 into a full street bike.

Inspired by the congested streets of China, the design not only makes it collapsible to allow it to fit easily into an elevator, but the Uno 3 also produces zero tailpipe emissions.

“At low speeds, the Uno is similar to a unicycle, for high-speed travel, the Uno transforms into a full motorcycle,” says Benjamin Gulak, head of BPG Motors. “This transitioning design allows the Uno to be compact and nimble for weaving through traffic, bringing indoors and parking, while at the same time, having all the benefits of a conventional motorcycle at high-speed.”

BPG Motors is accepting refundable deposits of $250 for Uno orders. The company says that pricing will be similar to other high-end scooters, so expect $5,000-$7,500.

Range Rover Showcase Evoque Bike

Range Rover unveiled a Road Bike today... yes a pedal powered two wheel mode of transport.  Unless they are moving from one extreme to the other, Range Rover haven't just commissioned the usual set of luggage and travel accessories, they think that a nice white 'Evoque' pedal bike would look better strapped to the boot.

I'm kidding of course, they will probably still do the luggage set and the bike is merely conceptual made from 'Karbona carbon fibre monocoque'.

Gerry McGovern, Land Rover design director, a keen cyclist himself, said: "I wanted to create the ultimate accessory for the Range Rover Evoque – and what could be more perfect than an utterly contemporary, beautifully designed, bespoke Evoque bike. Like the Range Rover Evoque, the bike not only looks fantastic but is precision engineered for ultimate performance."
