BMW 3 Series Sedan

The sixth generation of the BMW 3 Series Sedan, the world's best-selling premium car, sets new benchmarks in terms of sporting prowess, elegance and comfort. The pioneering history of the 3 Series serves as inspiration for the new sports sedan, whose powerful styling represents a fresh interpretation and conscientious development of traditional BMW design cues.

The new BMW face, with flat headlights reaching along as far as the BMW kidney grille, emphasises the elegantly dynamic design of the new BMW 3 Series. The sixth generation of the 3 Series has grown in size compared to its predecessor, with its wide track (front + 37 mm, rear + 47 mm) particularly prominent, and the car's increased length (+ 93 mm) and augmented wheelbase (+ 50 mm) also accentuate its sporting silhouette.

Inside the new BMW 3 Series Sedan, the noticeable increase in space benefits the rear passengers above all. And the BMW 3 Series range is now also available in a trio of trim and equipment variants - the Sport Line, Luxury Line and Modern Line. Each presents its own individual take on the character of the sports sedan, with exclusive, high-quality material combinations and unbeatable build quality underlining the premium ambience of the new range.

BMW M5 Saloon... Innovation, BMW Style

Much like BMW drivers around the world, BMW themselves are renowned for modesty and subtleness in abundance… So According to BMW, The M5 Saloon which “has defined the high-performance saloon segment for more than 25 years… and in the process has become the most successful car of its type in the world” have announced that the new fifth-generation model “raises the concept of the premium executive saloon combining track-car dynamics and supreme touring comfort to an even higher level.” Naturally…

According to BMW, the new M5 features “the most potent engine ever” devised by BMW's amazingly fantastic high-performance ‘M division’, along with “race-bred chassis technology that includes an Active M differential and electronic damping control”, exciting stuff.

The unique exterior design has been dictated by the technical requirements of the car, while the luxurious sports car-like cockpit offers an extensive range of ‘innovative’ driver assistance systems and mobility services, (In this instance, we expect ‘Innovative’ to be a sat-nav that tells the driver to calm down, or slaps them for undertaking, overtaking, or generally being a BMW driver)

The M5 features all of the usual mod-cons as standard, Heads-up-display, heated seats, DAB etc… and some impressive extras as standard, with Bluetooth connectivity, sat-nav (as discussed) and adaptive xenon headlights.

Optional equipment including a rear-view camera, High-Beam Assistant, Speed Limit information and… hold on… what’s this…? Lane Change and Lane Departure warnings, Surround View and BMW Night Vision to ensure the driver is aware of anything and everything happening within the vicinity of the car”. Now that’s Innovation! Thanks BMW!

Oh wait… what’s this?

“A Mobile Application preparation allows iPhone owners to receive web radio stations and display Facebook and Twitter posts on the Control Display”

you were so close…

The new M5 Saloon will be available in the UK in November 2011, priced at £73,040 on-the-road.

Eterniti... a storm is brewing...

Simply put, there is a new luxury brand coming to market, and they've only announced they are called Eterniti Motors London.

After a little digging I have found out that when talking 'luxury', Eterniti are looking at the plus £100k price-bracket and in the follow up to Frankfurt we will be hearing from them a few more times just to tease us

Nothing more released apart from this little teaser of a website and a little sketch of what we can expect from the newest brand in the motoring industry.

Ssangyong is back with an all new attitude

So many years ago you may or may not remember Rich testing the Ssangyong Rexton 4x4.  It left him a little dissapointed to say the very least - but now it seems the Ssangyong team are planning to make a splash when the land into the UK with their new model line-up, the first of which is the rather more understated Korando.

A crossover that will see the brand aiming at a new market, the Korando is compact and a lot better looking than anything else the Ssangyong have produced, so best of luck, and maybe we will see one on the road from September 2011.

New Toyota Yaris

The Yaris reaches it's third Generation and with it comes a higher grade of quality and style for the small Toyota.

Praised previously for it's roomy interior, agility about town and efficiency, the newest generation of Yaris will include these features and push toward sharper styling and more quality throughout, focusing on the latest Toyota Touch and Go system.

Standard in all new Yaris models (apart from the entry level) the Toyota Touch and Go system utilises touch screen controls and brings bluetooth, USB and rear camera features - plus get satellite navigation as an upgrade and access a range of informative services that can be downloaded from dedicated Toyota customer portals.

Back to the Yaris itself and we will be seeing the same well known engines the previous generation had, from the little 1.0litre to the 1.4 turbodeisel.  The 1.0l will see you doing a nice 58.9 miles to the gallon whereas the 1.33litre petrol will increase the agile ability boasting 98hp and still reaching an efficient 56mpg.  Lastly the 1.4 turbodiesel decreases the CO2 emissions by six percent at just 104g/km.

Styling next and the Yaris is definately an attractive car now, Toyota have moved away from the rounded bubbly look of the old model and using sharp lines twinned with chunky subtle curves has brought the new Generation a breath of fresh air.

Starting from just £11,170 OTR, the order books are open for delivery in September.  With the launch coming up, we will be bringing you more from Yaris itself and hopefully the hybrid version too.

Kia's Picanto Receives Great Reaction

Over the past couple of days, while we've been in Zurich testing the all new Aveo, we have heard nothing but good things about Kia's latest little car, the Picanto.  Earlier this year we blogged all about the new baby Kia and it's features, but last week a few lucky journo's popped over the water to the continent to put it through its paces, and based on what we heard, apparently it's been very well received.

Arriving back to the office this morning and I have seen a Kia press release all about the little city car and the UK specifications.

Five-door range starts from a mere £7,995 OTR from the 17th June this year, offered in two new Kia engines a 68hp 1.0-litre and an 84hp 1.25-lire increasing MPG and decreasing CO2, boasting Kia's efficient dynamics with Intelligent Stop & Go technology.

Specification sees the standard kit include electric windows, immobiliser, body coloured elements including bumpers and door handles and a 60:40 split folding rear seat.  Aside this the Picanto range is split between entry level '1' and '1 Air',  progressing to a mid-range '2' and finally a top spec '3' model.  Each level gains more standard equipment respectively, with LED running lights, automatic Air-con and even heated seats featuring within the top spec.

Overall it seems Kia have really pulled out all the stops with the little Picanto and I was gutted to have not been there for the launch but will definitely be chasing them for a demo from now.
